KVC Health Systems’ 2017 Charity Gala at Union Station Benefits Children and Families

KVC Health Systems The Gala at the Station

KVC Health Systems will host its annual charity gala, “The Gala at the Station,” on Friday, November 10 at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, benefitting over 12,000 children who have experienced abuse, neglect or other family challenges. For the fourth year in a row, the event is chaired by Bonne Illig and her team at VanBrock, a private jeweler located in Leawood, Kansas. Lead sponsors for the event are The Kelly Family Foundation, VanBrock, Red Door Woodfired Grill, Bank of Blue Valley, Garmin, Community America Credit Union, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City, IMA, Lockton, Holmes Murphy and Netsmart. View the full list of sponsors at www.kvc.org/gala.

The Gala is an upscale party with gourmet food and drinks, live performance art by Quixotic, music from the band Lost Wax, paintings created on-site by renowned local artists Allan Chow and Rebecca Pashia, and a unique auction to raise funds to enhance the lives of children and families served by KVC.

KVC Health Systems is a national leader in behavioral healthcare, child welfare and community health and wellness. The nonprofit organization strengthens families, prevents child abuse and neglect, and provides foster family care and adoption for children in need in 30 Kansas counties on behalf of the Kansas Department for Children and Families. KVC also helps children and adults at its psychiatric hospitals including KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas and provides youth behavioral health programs at Niles in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri.

While state reimbursements cover basic needs, private funds are needed to fill critical gaps and enhance the lives of children and families. The KVC Gala is 100% underwritten by corporate sponsors and other private donations. Past proceeds have helped KVC leverage video and social media to increase adoptions of children waiting in foster care, provided up to 12 months of intensive in-home support for children safely reunified with birth families or adopted, trained staff and caregivers to provide trauma-informed care, and made it possible for hundreds of foster families to attend KVC’s annual Resource Family Conference free of charge.

This is the first time the event has taken place at Union Station. The beautiful, historic venue helps accommodate growing attendance and makes it easier for party-goers to explore the space, discover food stations, purchase surprise boxes, bid on auction items, witness acrobatic performances, locate the dance floor and more.

Gala attendees will be able to use their smartphones for mobile bidding, making it easy to buy surprise boxes and bid on auction items like sporting game tickets, vacation getaways, designer jewelry, private dinners, artistic masterpieces and more.

Tickets are $150 per person. There are a limited number of discounted tickets available for guests under age 30. Sponsors and their guests are eligible to receive a select number of passes to the VIP Lounge. Union Station is located at 30 West Pershing road in Kansas City, Missouri. The Young Friends of KVC invite guests to join them at the after-party at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power and Light District.
