Support and Celebrate Adoptive Families During National Adoption Month
Join us in recognizing families who have adopted, or are in the process of adopting a child from foster care
November is National Adoption Month, and KVC invites you to join us in celebrating adoptive families! National Adoption Day (November 19, 2016) is a collective national effort to raise awareness about children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. Thousands of children and their adoptive families will gather in courtrooms to finalize the adoption process.
If you know a family that is in the process of adopting a child, or who has already finalized an adoption, you can support and celebrate them during National Adoption Month, and all year long, in the following ways:
Donate material items
Collect gift cards, movie passes, board games, event tickets – anything the family can use to enjoy together.
Offer your time
Prepare a meal for the family, help out with house cleaning, or offer to babysit or drive kids to practice. If the family does not reach out or ask for help, offer your support anyway. You will never be turned down and it may be just what the family needs to get through this new adjustment.
Educate yourself and others
Take it upon yourself to learn about the process of adopting a child or youth from foster care in order to show your support for the family. By clearing up your own fears and misunderstandings, you’ll be able to appreciate the wonderful gift that a family is providing for a child in need as well as educate others about their decision.
Share their story
Do you know an individual or family that has adopted a child or youth from foster care through KVC? We want to hear about it! Tell us their story by filling out this form, and with the family’s consent, we will share their story on our website, social media and in our marketing materials. By sharing their story, you can inspire others, provide hope and bring understanding to the topic of adopting a child or youth from foster care.
Since 2005, KVC has matched more than 3,385 children with loving forever families. If you are looking to adopt or know a family who is, contact us today to learn about becoming a foster or adoptive parent! You can also visit our adoption website to meet children in need of a forever family.
